Diva and the City: Kitten Lounge Celebration at Shobha

September 26, 2011

During Fashion Week, The Kitten Lounge celebrated four years of bringing fierce fashion and lifestyle.

The founder of Kitten Lounge, Kimmie Smith, invited select VIPs and bloggers to a four year celebration at Shobha located at Columbus Circle. It was my first time at Shohba and as soon as I stepped into their doors I fell in love.

Shobha is a hair removal salon that specializes in hair removal treatments, including threading, sugaring & waxing. It's not just any salon; it is an experience that gets a modern courtesan thumbs up. The smell of rose water is in the air as you enter the seductive atmosphere which is more like a lair. There is even a bed in the middle of the salon which you can lounge on at your leisure.

We had the opportunity to experience their eye brow threading service as we schmoozed and sipped on “Sugaritinis” that were made from their Shobha Sugaring Treatments ( yes, it’s edible).

The specialist who worked on my brows has been doing threading for ten years so I felt like I was in good hands. Long story short, I loved how my brows turned out. After the brows are complete they are wiped with the Shobha refreshing rosewater cloths. I immediately booked my next appointment, I have a feeling I will become a regular. I also have to give a big shout out to the Shobha staff who is fun and fabulous!

To top it off,  guests were sent home with swag in Shobha bags. I love that I was sent home with Shobha rosewater cloths, Cosmopolitian Magazine, and will be sent a pair of flip flops from Havaianas.

It was a great way to celebrate in Kitten Lounge style. The whole night was a sexy and sensual experience. Check out the Kitten Lounge for the latest on fashion and make sure to stop by Shohba to experience their services, it is perfect for your luscious life.

Diva and the City: Wifestyle Conference

September 25, 2011

When I first heard about the Wifestyle Conference my first thought was that suburban wives were getting together to lunch in New York City and talk “wife and married people things” as they learned about entertaining.

Then I noticed that the description said the conference was for all women including single ladies, like myself. That is when I became even more intrigued. While I may not be anywhere near getting married, I would love to life partner up and do my sex kitten meets Martha Stewart routine.  The question remained; can wives and single ladies unite at a Wifestyle Conference?

When I sauntered into the GE Monogram Design Center, the kitchen was bustling and ladies were chatting. I knew it was my kind of conference when as soon as I arrived, Coryanne Ettiene (one of the founders of Wifestyle) said to me "Let me get you a drink". The dirty martinis made with Van Gogh Vodka were being mixed up by the Cocktail Deeva as the lifestyle experts prepared to show us how to entertain in style.

In small groups we took turns going to stations in twenty minute increments learning about floral arrangements, glutton free food, place settings, and how to conjure up cocktails.

I started off learning about flowers with Rebekah Rombom and Megan Benson from H. Bloom Flowers. They jammed packed some great information about flowers into a short period of time. Did you know that you can make your own flower food by adding one drop of bleach with salt? Go gentle on the bleach; it is to kill germs so just a drop will do. It’s that simple and easy. Who knew?

Kelley Moore, an on air lifestyle expert, was on hand to show us how to set a table the right way. The night before she took a shower curtain and made it into a tablecloth. It was so lovely and creative. She was so awesome with all of the questions that everyone threw her way. What Moore emphasized is let your creativity roll when you are entertaining.

It doesn't sound like a glutton free demo would be all that interesting, but Lisa Thiele from With Style and Grace, showed us how yummy glutton can be. My favorite tip from Thiele was when she showed us how using a little bit of truffle salt can bust open the flavor on vegetables like tomatoes. Truffles are an aphrodisiac that I give a modern courtesan thumbs up, never thought to put it on raw vegetables.

Last but not least, I made it to the cocktail station. I've been following the Cocktail Deeva on Twitter for a while, but there is nothing like meeting her in person. She throws down when it comes to making a drink. Once Deeva gets a shaker in her hand it's on! She served up a plum martini made with Van Gogh Vodka. It was so smooth and delicious, but most of all sexy!

As we were leaving, we were handed big swag bags. The bag was a packed with luscious items including a coupon for free truffle salt from Gourmet Delights, a gift from designerliners, Van Gogh Vodka, and Poo-Pourri, plus so much more.

Though the conference is called, Wifestyle,  you do not have to be a wife to appreciate the day nor will you feel out of place if you are single. I applaud the creators of Wifestyle, Coryanne Ettiene and Mindy Lockard, for their great job in putting the conference together. They had the idea for it only nine months ago. The conference will be the hot place to be for women to learn about great ways to entertain while bonding with some pretty luscious women, I can’t wait for the next one!

Art of the Courtesan

September 18, 2011

*So Brad Pitt was talking smack about being married to Jennifer Aniston. The question is why, I mean really. Aniston's response is oh, nothing she is probably to busy buying furniture for her new house with boo Justin Theroux. High five Jen, you modern courtesan it up!

*Raven-Symone's lastest show, State of Georgia, has been canceled. If you blink you may have missed it. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of her!

*Modern Courtesan, Courtney Cox, is working with David Arquette on a new sitcom about marriage and it's ups and downs. Love this for them. Cox is doing her while also keep the door open for David. A true courtesan move!

*Love the or hate them the Kardashian ladies are at it again. They have hit Sears with a new clothing line, Kardashian Collection. Some of the things are not that bad, chic and sexy, very urban feel..it's how a modern courtesan rolls!

Courtesan Certitude~Cleopatra

September 04, 2011

Courtesan Certitude is a quick fact that is about a historical or modern courtesan

This sexy fact is about the beauty, Cleopatra, who pulled a move that any modern courtesan could love. The Egyptian queen use to wear perfume scented lipstick so that when she kissed her lovers her smell would linger on them for hours. As a matter of fact Cleopatra loved wearing exotic perfumes and lavished herself in them daily.

Maybe this is something you can incorporate into your bag of love tricks?! Make your love think about you by leaving your scent nearby.
