Courtesans were and still are women who seduced the world with their charm, wit, grace, and beauty. To this day some of them are known as the sexiest and most liberated women in the world, which is why I wanted to center a larger part of my business teaching their virtues.
If ever there was a courtesan that was a muse it was Alice Prin who became known to the world as the glamours, Kiki de Montparnasse. She was a chanteuse, model, actress, and painter among many other things.
Sent to Paris at the age of twelve, by the age of fourteen she was doing nude modeling by some of the most influential artists including Jean Cocteau and Max Ernst. In the 1920′s she became the mistress of the artist Man Ray who painted over 100 portraits of her which are thought of Surrealism’s most significant paintings.
De Montparnasse was highly regarded as an artist and painter. For her popular music performances, she wore black hose and garters while she sang raunchy songs to delighted audiences. She had a role in at least nine different artistic black and white films. When she was not singing or acting she was painting or drawing, something she took up during her six years with Man Ray. She signed her works with just “Kiki”.
Through Ernest Hemmingway she became known by Black Manikin Press. Through the press Montparnasse wrote and published her memoir which was banned in the United States until the 1970s. In 1996 her book was finally translated for publication under the title, Kiki’s Memoirs.
It was her artistic and bohemian lifestyle that got her deemed ”Queen of Montparnasse” at the age of 28. One of her most famous quotes is “all I need is an onion, a bit of bread, and of bottle of red wine, and I will always find somebody to offer me that”.
De Montparnasse died in 1953 in, France at the age of fifty-one, of either complications of alcoholism or drug dependence it is not clear. A large crowd of fans, friends, and artists gathered for her funeral and buried glorious days of Montparnasse.
In her honor, the flower that is daylily was named Kiki de Montparnasse. There is also a luscious high end sex store inspired by her that bears her name that is filled with gorgeous masks, delicious perfume oils, books, costumes, toys, and other instruments of pleasure.
